the the buildings uh on the dark uh lines of buildings in the middle uh that would be

open the courtyard and and this was his idea

we think i think the the density is uh uh something that we cannot

uh that we cannot avoid that putting

houses together putting people together uh and enhances

the communication and it's also good for a mixture when you have an extra

function when you don't have only presidential but also works bases and uh and uh
00:31:20
mm and chops and it is uh economically uh

much more a much more uh that much mm

uh it is a lot of advantages uh from

economical point a and point of view both in terms

of the history of the individual and then because of course living in the periphery looks seems

seems cheaper because rents are cheaper and but uh

time and also uh a lot of money and for the society uh um

suburbia than it is in a compact a city and

then i think what is really the very important is

ecological uh uh issue and i think we cannot we

just can't afford to consume so much landscape is we

still are consuming i mean switzerland is a very positive

uh example uh that you know this terrifying figure off one

square meter per second that's what we are consuming 'cause

uh uh in switzerland uh in terms of landscape and
00:33:00
and i think it's quite it's quite yeah in acceptable so this this where this are again very briefly maybe

we can discuss it a little bit uh more afterwards and why uh we have such an interest in in

uh in density they also cultural uh aspects that and
00:33:18

did it uh in the periphery uh what we tried to

to show a a that it's possible to build the density uh also in the periphery and to make it clear

and we did also this uh this uh analysis of different

situations then because we do not believe that there is one

then it's a a one a typology of a dense the city wouldn't believe that it
00:33:54
throw houses or blocks or sought than we think there is a peek a range of uh

the street here have to stay the the station uh he perhaps highway so

it's really suburbia and and and a lot at our disposal what this one it was the the

uh industrial a side business to a completely clean

gap uh and and empty state empty for a for

a long time and that was a competition uh
00:36:06
and the requirement were interesting content i think also intelligent

it was uh about fifty fifty residential and the

workspace is uh and actually quite a a a um

quite a number of so uh um hum of workspace is uh

we're quite the this site is um mm to give a

rough idea it's about seventy thousand square meters of seven uh

seven a and pictures and the and the requirement uh was

to house about a thousand people yeah here and give a amount

about the same number a little bit more of a workspace

is just a very roughly and and and there was also to

built at the park should also be part a of a

the whole thing parents would be really clark bike at least uh and that worked

out and enter because it was about first of all of that was about and urban

a very private and to a degree that because they can't

park right neutral uh atmosphere in in this big courtyards

but again it is not a new idea it was time to try to centre in the

buildings could be the you use it's easier to experiment with three floors

of experiment with four floors went and we really want to turn

to understand how the spaces that would look like and hopefully also um

also feels sort of this with the first experiment to establish the height

of the um love to be reading if you want the density then

as a basis then for the change of the of the uh planning rules

for this area which will prosper completely different than and turn in pain we um

we started designing we set design the public spaces that

under different architects um because we thought it was too large to

me more and it was time to design the public spaces because we were really interested mostly
