00:00:01
thank you i'm gonna miss the castle i'm from pardon well i'm liking design company
00:00:08
and i'm like two percent some worker doing within an um
00:00:12
i. e. task within an international project um as well also doing
00:00:16
that to hear that at a presentation here the basic work behind
00:00:21
that was done together with guys from albion elf eleanor and toning
00:00:26
i'm giving a short background why are we
00:00:29
a partner doing research doing basic research at the
00:00:34
background for for providing our design it for providing
00:00:37
or people working with architects with them like just
00:00:42
findings latest knowledge um short background in our company
00:00:46
pardon off um assassins that the lighting design company
00:00:50
um route nineteen ninety employees with fourteen lighting design
00:00:54
we look at it in austria um closed in spoke and uh that's the place where we we have our office
00:01:00
um that's what we have dedicated to do a lot of the lighting design obviously and um
00:01:07
in our company is that as a set as it about forty people in the lighting design
00:01:11
so the rest um that's about twenty five falls in the r. and b. group to be quite
00:01:16
a big r. and d. department doing a research
00:01:19
and development behind it's um to support our designers
00:01:23
um and also to do developments for industry to
00:01:26
provide service for industry um in our um company
00:01:32
can some colours missing that no matter um different divisions that we have um and
00:01:37
doing different parts of two worked alongside not officially signed obviously for the lighting design work
00:01:43
um but also the research and development is a big part i'm packing up um those designs and
00:01:49
from from these groups from these people working there we can choose for every project what is the right
00:01:55
constellation that we need for that project so for for small projects we we do everything from there
00:02:01
planning to the installation um we might do on the
00:02:05
artificial lighting and and to complete lighting solution here but
00:02:08
for something like the mac or cocked are we need everything from artificial lighting design daylight inside research
00:02:14
and also um materials consultation perceptual psychology would also doing now
00:02:19
off um today and at present something that is um uh the technical
00:02:26
project we're doing within the id a um it's
00:02:29
called the credit solutions for the lighting and electric lighting
00:02:33
um it's an international task with them fifteen uh countries participating and about twenty
00:02:39
to um uh companies or research institute's i'm joining um
00:02:46
very short that's your structure to task and um i'll talk about that
00:02:51
part c. here that's the sub just see um well i'm responsible for is
00:02:55
the design support for practitioners it's about tool standards
00:02:58
and guidelines and um what we're doing here is um
00:03:04
uh basically looking looking on uh what is the latest research what is
00:03:09
the latest developments that are out there uh and shouldn't need to find
00:03:13
a way on to that desktops and on to do what pleases i'm
00:03:17
off to practitioners so that they have tools attentive standards that entity can
00:03:22
better perform the sign in terms of integration of like to come
00:03:26
to that eleven design um and one special case we've referred that
00:03:31
before here that they lighting simulations and delighting analysis uh as an
00:03:36
important part in designing buildings in in designing the overall energy consumption
00:03:40
but also for visual in a non visual effects reflecting um instill this this sum up
00:03:47
parts missing they are um which is that that part to here to standardisation of yes yes
00:03:53
um data standardisation of the characterisation of the systems so what is behind that um
00:04:01
may short a. b. s. d. f. what is it yes yes if you
00:04:03
compare these two renderings um it's basically just driving the same situation it's a room
00:04:09
um with the initial blinds install the toughest thought once we have the geometry of the initial blinds
00:04:15
and once we have to be us yes so that is it is a representation it to data
00:04:20
it's the database that data um format behind how
00:04:24
to describe um a day lighting system a facade
00:04:27
system to implement in a a a a lighting design soft how can we think about that we
00:04:35
for for example in a um a four cars we know pretty much everything
00:04:39
how to do uh we have every everything standard that we know how to describe
00:04:43
every technical part of the car we also have that for electric lighting we know and i yes file and all
00:04:49
them that file how that needs to look like to have
00:04:52
a proper description of the lunar um for the lighting systems
00:04:57
there is some uh got track this that is
00:05:00
currently use but there's no standardisation opted for gas
00:05:04
so this is where we are targeting to work on the standardisation procedure and to work on
00:05:09
standards how to best describe the lighting systems
00:05:13
um for for for socks and for building envelopes
00:05:19
why do we need to um we've seen that uh quite some time today in the morning and not also
00:05:25
that um uh and we'll simulations for day lighting are are more and more common and are also needed to do
00:05:31
calculations of daylight autonomy of ali and and will um they let
00:05:36
player probabilities things like that um and for that we obviously need something
00:05:41
here we see that because they have a windows and no calculation methods
00:05:45
we cannot do ray tracing for um every single our far of the eight
00:05:49
thousand seven hundred sixty hours in the year so we need to have a
00:05:53
efficient calculation methodology it's that metric space not that have been developed over the last years
00:06:00
um and all these methodologies they needed description of today learning system via
00:06:06
beast yes that that's either for the three phase not that we see here
00:06:10
it's quite a rough a coarse resolution um or we can go
00:06:14
for the do a detailed calculation in adding heading back a very um
00:06:19
precise representation with the high priest solution because they have 'em into five this method would
00:06:24
be see you so that's the application will we do need that and this is also
00:06:29
i'm a part where we need some kind of standardisation we need the
00:06:34
first thing is we need to say okay what is the kind of
00:06:38
representation what is the resolution what is the data format that we
00:06:41
need and uh on the other hand what is the kind of simulation
00:06:46
methodology sent methods that we should use and algorithms that we should used
00:06:50
to come up with different um evaluations and different they live in metrics
00:06:57
what we did as a background for that ace um i ran a
00:07:00
sensitivity analysis on different classes of the lighting system sent a facade systems
00:07:07
so from click placing or venetian blinds or daylight
00:07:11
redirecting systems like directing films um or shapes fabrics
00:07:17
um we did a a a whole bunch of simulation studies on that
00:07:22
i'm investigating how various resolutions how various um
00:07:27
data sets for this for the same system influences the results um either here for example
00:07:35
i'm doing a a calculation and vertically luminance that gets high
00:07:39
which is the basis for the chippy did they like their probability calculation
00:07:43
or also the main basis for um calculating non visual effects of like
00:07:49
so we see it like pick two examples of for example some of that
00:07:53
sensitivity analysis for example i'm representing clique leasing free b. s. d. f. either
00:08:00
compared to geometry so this is the ground truth that we're having
00:08:03
with um a very rough resolution with lines or a very finders solution
00:08:09
and we see that there are situations out there where we get quite a
00:08:13
big difference so if we look at that i'm in a in a bar chart
00:08:17
we see that for example in in march we get quite some variation in the and
00:08:21
and medically luminance values which you also see into um it should be in the and um
00:08:29
looking looking uh to that also from the other side we don't have the direct sun in your in the view
00:08:35
um and here we are for example in the part where that the main reaching for a like a probability somewhere between
00:08:42
zero point three five and two point four five um wait
00:08:47
really changes between discomfort um uh uh situations and comfort situations
00:08:53
and we exactly here in d. c. variation so doing dave relation with two different groups
00:08:58
annotations of the system might and in a very different um evaluation of the overall scenario
00:09:06
i'm also doing that for the nation blinds there
00:09:09
are some some outliers as well we see for example
00:09:13
here we have the representation that just over estimates by
00:09:17
far to clear potential of that system so if you
00:09:21
by accident choose this kind of representation of the system you
00:09:25
might just get a very wrong um insulation of your situation ups
00:09:32
um so from that we try to put the data for which kind of
00:09:37
classes of system one for which i'm methodology we should use um which kind of
00:09:43
use the f. description to ah quite some established format out there at the moment
00:09:49
um different in resolution uh to use the different kind of softer different institutions um
00:09:56
they are currently let's let established methods but they are not standardised yep
00:10:01
and um what we need to come up with in the end is to
00:10:05
have for every single class of systems what i should be for is for like
00:10:09
pick that we should lines here we have different simulation task that
00:10:13
we wanna do if we only want it calculated to lead factor
00:10:17
um that means we're using a a overcast sky model for the simulation
00:10:22
um we don't need a very high resolution file system to to
00:10:26
perfectly simulate but for example if you go down to a point
00:10:29
in time clear metric calculation which means that is illuminate space calculation
00:10:35
we need a very high and very fine resolution for the system
00:10:39
um so this connections and does some into relations
00:10:44
we need to define for all kind of different
00:10:46
systems that are out and of all classes of systems
00:10:49
um so will we will start with those six some classes
00:10:54
that so we we clustered into transparent systems it's
00:10:57
no matter of clear all electronic playthings or films
00:11:00
i'm from the point of view from the characterisation through pierced yes it's the same it's you have a very strong
00:11:07
see through component um and for that we are here
00:11:11
can be class that and the same can be you
00:11:16
this all any n. should go uh and we'll go into
00:11:19
the revision of that ice a standard uh ten nine sixteen
00:11:23
there's um it's that calculation of the impact of the lighting on the energy useful lighting
00:11:28
into is already a daylight calculation methodology define their how to do that and this will
00:11:33
be updated to include and no calculation and with that we also need to specify how
00:11:39
can systems how can they let systems be um incorporate in b. p.
00:11:46
a simulated within this calculation methodology um there is a
00:11:50
task force i'm not working on this within the i. so
00:11:54
and that's in in close collaboration with r. i. e. a. um task group
00:11:59
so this um task or this this update of this uh ice a standard should be out within the
00:12:05
say next one and a half or two years um and then says then we really
00:12:10
want to try to have a a clear specification which kind of used to have to use
00:12:16
for which simulation task and for which um they liked last
00:12:21
i'm a short thanks to the funding agencies in austria and i'm happy to take questions
