Efficient multimedia search and retrieval with Elasticsearch by Sandy Ingram. Klewel, an SME based in Martigny, offers Triskel, an innovative and complete webcasting solution. Triskel consists of a cross-platform recording software communicating via an API with a multimedia processing application, and a Web portal for editing, sharing, and searching recorded content. This presentation explains how Elasticsearch was used to efficiently search, within and across recorded presentations. Topics such as the structure of the indices, the modeling of search queries, and the type of data indexed was be discussed, followed by a demo. Embedded Interactive Learning Dashboards With Elasticsearch and Kibana by Andrii Vozniuk. The React Group at EPFL conducts research and development in the field of interaction systems with particular focus on educational technology and learning analytics. Making sense of growing educational data requires deployment and usage of appropriate scalable, real-time processing tools supporting a flexible data schema, such as Elasticsearch. In this talk, Andrii first demonstrated how user-educational platform interactions can be captured by using the xAPI standard. Afterwards, he built and played with a Kibana dashboard visualising these interactions in real-time. Finally, he demonstrated how such a dashboard can be embedded into an existing web platform allowing its user to benefit from the provided analytics.
